Update: Due to the possibility of bad weather on Saturday, the Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company’s Family Fun Day has been postponed a day.
The new date for the festive fundraiser will be Sunday, April 27. It will still be from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Whitby School.
Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company (“RHVFC”) and its volunteer firefighters will bring back its incredibly successful “Family Fun Day” to celebrate children and families of the backcountry and all of Greenwich for a second year.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 1:00-5:00pm at Whitby School in Greenwich.

All proceeds benefit Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Donations to RHVFC are fully tax-deductible.
The “Family Fun Day” event is open to children and families of all ages and will feature a Fire Station Bounce House, an inflatable Fire Truck Obstacle Course, Sports Games, an exciting head-to-head bungee cord race, and a first-time mini-bumper car experience, as well as Round Hill Fire and GEMS Touch-A-Truck, Face Painters, and Arts & Crafts.
RHVFC volunteer firefighters will also conduct Fire Safety Demonstrations and Scout, RHVFC’s fire dog, will also be at the event. Three Food Trucks and an RHVFC Bake Sale will be on hand to provide food options.
Family Fun Day Chairperson Caitlin Egan Del Raso said, “I could not be more excited to lead the second annual ‘Family Fun Day’ event for the Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company. More than 400 people attended last year’s event and everyone had a blast.”
“It’s a phenomenal event and I am proud to be pitching in this year. We hope families from all over Greenwich and our surrounding communities come join us for more fun!”
Del Raso added, “Our organizing committee, including many backcountry moms, has come together to support our neighborhood Round Hill volunteer firefighters. These volunteers commit their time to protect our homes and property and they also volunteer their time to create and run this incredible event for our community. We are so appreciative.”
RHVFC Volunteer District Chief Sharon Strain grew up at the RHVFC firehouse and has been a part of nearly 30 years of Round Hill community events.
“Family Fun Day presents another opportunity to connect with our community, to raise awareness that we are all volunteers, meet new neighbors, and perhaps even find a few new members to join us to protect the backcountry and all of Greenwich. It’s going to be a fun day for sure!” Strain said.

Celebrating 75+ Years Serving the Greenwich Backcountry
For more than 75 years, the volunteer firefighters of RHVFC have provided first response emergency services, protecting life and property, to the Greenwich backcountry. In that time,
our members have responded to more than 10,000 incidents, ranging from traffic accidents and downed power lines to hazardous material spills and fully-involved structure fires. Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company is the only all-volunteer fire company in Greenwich.
Today, RHVFC’s members continue to serve the backcountry, working hand-in-hand with Town career firefighters, not only in the Round Hill fire district, but also throughout greater Greenwich when additional resources or apparatus is needed. RHVFC responds to an average of 350-450 emergency calls per year.
RHVFC is an independent volunteer fire company that is affiliated with, but only partially funded by, the Town of Greenwich. Each year its members must raise more than $50,000 to fund its annual operating expenses. Round Hill’s volunteers rely on the community’s support so they can better serve you, your family, and your neighbors.
