Withrow & Sprung: Staggering Failure of Democrats Reflected in Latest CT Economic Report Card

Sbumitted by Jane Sprung and Sage Withrow

Dear Editor,

Just in time for election day, Connecticut voters were presented with the latest economic report card for Governor Lamont and his fellow Democrats, and the failure was even more staggering than we had previously imagined.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the Connecticut economy shrank at an annualized rate of -4.7% in the third quarter, ranking 49th out of 50.

The compound annual “growth” rate for the entirety of the Lamont administration has been -1.14%.

Worse yet, the CT Democratic Party has had unified control of the executive and legislative branches for twelve years. In that time real GDP is virtually unchanged.

It has truly been a lost decade and responsibility rests entirely at the feet of the Democrat Party. It is no wonder the Governor and his wife find doing business in Connecticut “too complicated” and have moved some of their interests out of the state  – they “get the joke” that we are reaping what they have sown.

It would appear the only ones surprised by the latest data are the local Greenwich Democrats who have the audacity to litter the landscape with signs saying “Keep CT Growing – Vote Democrat”. That is a Hall of Fame level attempt at gaslighting.

The destruction of the state’s economy is yet another assault on the state’s students. They have borne the cost of the Governor’s “emergency powers” and mandates in the form of diminished academic achievement and declining mental health and now face a looming economic downturn. It’s time for a change in Hartford.

Locally, Kimberly Fiorello in House District 149 and Ryan Fazio, State Senate 36 have been lonely voices of reason in Hartford.  New additions to the State House, Peter Sherr in House District 151 and Ed Lopez in District 150 will ensure Greenwich has an all-star lineup to help bring economic growth back to the state while empowering parents and students alike.

Sincerely,
Greenwich Residents,
Jane Sprung & Sage Withrow
