First Selectman candidate Anthony Moor and Selectwoman candidate Rachel Khanna issued the following statement in the wake of the horrific assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk:
“The news of Charlie Kirk’s death is a sobering reminder of the fact that no one should lose their life in this way. While we often disagreed with his views, Charlie Kirk was a husband, a father, and a son, and his family now faces a heartbreaking loss. As parents ourselves, we feel deeply for them.
“We also feel the urgency to speak out. As a nation, we must put a stop to the growing dangers of political and gun violence in our country. Today also marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11, another horrific act of political violence that continues to haunt us today. Violence of any kind must never be the answer.
“We remain committed to building a safer, more respectful community where disagreements are resolved through dialogue, not bloodshed.”
