My mother Has the character to be an incredible, dedicated State Representative

Many know my mom as an extremely hard-working person – she is a mother, a wife, a volunteer, a community advocate, a friend, a chef, a triathlete, and a Neil Diamond fanatic. This past summer, I saw her grit in action on the campaign trail. We experienced a heat wave unlike any other, but that did not stop her mission to reach voters. Each day, with the heat, she was canvassing. Maybe she showed up to your door, sweat dripping, asking you what you cared about. I joined her on occasion and had an opportunity to witness voters say, “I can’t believe you’re out here in this heat” and to watch my mom respond there was no other place she could think to be. These moments affirmed for me how committed she is to the role of public servant. She recognizes her responsibility and duty for people in our district and she gives 110%. My mom has assumed this type of role before as an elected member of the Greenwich RTM.

Her commitment to making connections with voters reminded me of her efforts with the local food delivery business she started up and ran. Despite having four young children who were loud, dramatic and demanding, she ran her business with precision and care. Residents may remember that not only would she hand-make the food, she would deliver it to your door. Her passion for reaching out to others translated into volunteering with Women for Women and Veerni – two organizations working to educate and support women in South East Asia. This work gave her the opportunity to work with people from across the world, to work collaboratively with people of different backgrounds.

My mom has passion and a work ethic that is inspiring. I am confident she will work to protect our futures on this planet, for women to make decisions about their own bodies, for people to have access to healthcare and housing, and for strong public school education. I will vote for her because I know she genuinely cares about her constituents and will endeavor to address the needs of Connecticut’s 149th District.

Thank you,

Sophie
