LETTER: Fazio Has Accomplished A Lot in the Short Time He Has Been in Hartford

Submitted by Irene Dietrich, Cos Cob

To the Editor,

When Alex Kasser chose to leave her seat in the State Senate, I voted for Ryan Fazio in the special election to succeed her and I am glad that I did. He’s always shown dedication to our community and now he’s sprung into action as an effective bipartisan member of the Senate.

What I liked about Ryan from the start is his strong connection and commitment to our community. He grew up in the district, graduated from the Greenwich Public Schools and chose to return here with an economics degree from Northwestern in hand for a career in commodities markets, specializing in renewable energy.

Since then, Ryan has continuously volunteered to give back to community. He spent many years as a tutor in inner-city charter schools, and then extensively with the United Way, Meals on Wheels, and as a member of Greenwich’s Energy Efficiency Committee. Prior to being elected to the state Senate, he also represented District 12 on the Representative Town Meeting.

What I love about Ryan is the work he has done in the short time that he has been in Hartford.

He has reached across the aisle to write, sponsor and co-sponsor bills that will make our state more affordable, cleaner, safer and a more conducive place for businesses and families. He even co-wrote a new law to improve students’ mental health in schools—very rare for a freshman legislator in the minority party—and co-sponsored other legislation on the environment and the safety of seniors.

This November, I am proud to once again to vote for our now State Senator Ryan Fazio. I hope you will support him too.
