JACKSON: Vote on Nov 7 to change the way our Town is Run

Submitted by Lori Jackson, Greenwich

To Voters in Greenwich

We have an opportunity to change the way our town is run this fall. It will only happen if you vote.

I will be voting for Laura Erickson for First Selectperson and Janet Stone McGuigan for Selectperson. Both of these Democrats have long records of serving our town. They are familiar with the budgets and the projects that need funding.

For more information on the candidates go to: www.greenwichdemocrats.org.

They are ready to lead our town in a responsible and informed way. Together with a majority on the Board of Estimate and Taxation it should be possible to end the long delays on many of the projects that this town has needed for a long time. These delays have not saved tax payer dollars.

Past delays have actually cost tax payers a lot of money both recently and historically. When Greenwich High School was built it was decided that the auditorium space could be made smaller to save money. This decision was made by Republicans who were saving money. Many years later that auditorium was not even big enough to hold one class of students at Greenwich High School and the acoustics were terrible. They saved money on the project only to spend a great deal more.

This is just one of several examples of quick fixes that have not saved money for our town. Today there are several projects that should have moved forward. Design work has been done and ADA compliance mandated it a legal necessity. Yet at the last minute non-professionals made up numbers, suggested alternate plans and refused to fund the projects as requested. Greenwich deserves responsible leadership.

Our schools as well as other town infrastructure and services have been delayed for too long. It is time to give Laura Erickson as First Selectperson and Janet Stone McGuigan as Selectperson the opportunity to get these projects moving.

It is time for a change and you can make that happen. VOTE for Erickson and McGuigan and the Democrats on line A on November 7.

Respectfully Submitted
