As Election Day approaches, it’s worth recognizing the vital role of our Town Clerk — the office that quietly supports every stage of our lives.
With only seven full-time staff, the Greenwich Town Clerk’s Office has, in the past year:
- Issued over 3,300 dog licenses
- Granted 69 Regular, 41 Senior, and 15 Junior shellfish permits
- Recorded 2,798 births — where life begins
- Processed 255 marriages – milestones
- Certified 515 deaths — honoring lives and legacies
- Recorded 6,907 land-record instruments — deeds, mortgages, and more marking milestones of home and ownership
- Enrolled 475 property owners for the Greenwich Property Alert System – alert residents of property fraud
- Collected $42,214,930.00 in state conveyance tax and $7,009,169.00 in town conveyance tax
Beyond the numbers, the Clerk’s Office issues absentee ballots (over 4,780 last election), records military discharge papers, trade names, maps, and licenses. It also provides notary services and serves as the official record keeper for all Town documents, including meeting schedules and agendas.
It’s truly the heartbeat of local government — connecting with residents at life’s biggest moments.
Our Town Clerk, Jacqueline A. Budkins, isn’t just an official — she’s our neighbor, community member, and advocate. She brings genuine passion to customer service, whether assisting residents online or greeting them at the counter. She leads with empathy and professionalism, ensuring every interaction is met with care and respect.
When you vote this election, remember you’re choosing the person who safeguards the records of our lives — births, marriages, homes, and votes.
Choose Budkins! Let’s support the person who keeps our Town of Greenwich running smoothly every day.
