DUUS: Piccininno’s Apology for Unbecoming Social Media Comments Expresses Neither Remorse Nor Regret

Submitted by Andy Duus

To the editor,

Mr. Greg Piccininno recently made some remarks on social media – remarks which I would not be allowed to repeat on this site – unbecoming of anyone, and especially anyone who serves in a public capacity as he does on the CMS Building Committee.

Compounding his error is his subsequent ‘apology’ letter that appeared yesterday in the Greenwich Free Press. An excerpt is below.

“…I apologize to anyone who many [sic] have taken offense to sarcastic comments I have made on social media.  It is not in my character to offend people, however [sic] I realize my tweets might be taken that way…”

Greg Piccininno, GFP, April 25, 2023

His was a classic false apology, which expresses neither remorse nor regret.  Mr. Piccininno should, dare I say, “man-up.” Accept that you erred.  Make an honest apology. If not, then maybe you should resign from the Building Committee.

Sincerely
Andy Duus
