Driver of Car Going Wrong Way in Riverside Charged for Engaging Police in Pursuit

On Oct 10 around 2:20am Greenwich police observed a BMW 550 with New Jersey plates going the wrong way in the area of Neil Lane and East Putnam Ave.

Police initiated a stop of the BMW which initially stopped and then fled the traffic stop.

Police spotted the BMW traveling southbound on Lockwood Ln well in excess of the posted speed limit and would not stop when officers signaled to do so.

The BMW was located within the driveway of a private residence.

Officers immediately detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the car and marijuana was located in the car.

Police identified the driver as Jeffrey Familia De La Cruz, 21, from Bronx, NY. He was arrested and charged with Speeding, Failure to Maintain Lane, Running from Police, Possession of Marijuana Under 1/2 Oz.

He was able to post his $250 bond and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Nov 13, 2020.
