I was shocked to see metal perimeters being put up at one end of Bible Street Park this weekend, cordoning off an entire section of one end of the park.
I went online to discover that plans have been made for upgrades, enhancements, and additions for three athletic fields in this small park.
Why weren’t residents asked, consulted or told about this?
The online article* said letters were sent out and there was minimal response. Well, perhaps that’s because we never got those letters!

All we knew and were told was that the basketball courts were going to be upgraded. There has been no notification of anything else.
This small park is used by people for many things; recreation, walking, jogging, walking dogs, etc.
Despite this, the town has apparently decided to upgrade and convert it into now three separate athletic fields: baseball, soccer and softball with increased perimeters for baseball, 8 foot high steel fencing with netting on top, dugouts and cages AND the addition of a soccer field. Are you kidding me?
Is the town aware of the traffic and parking problems already existing on Bible Street?
Do they know that with the few events we already have there’s always overcrowding in the small parking lot spilling onto the residential street, making it impassable at times?
Do they realize this is also a flood zone ?
Why weren’t residents informed of these developments?
As residents and taxpayers why do our concerns or wishes not seem to matter? Especially when it comes to sports.
People who actually live in a community should have a say in what goes on in that community.
