Get Licensed! June starts new dog licenses for dogs

Greenwich Animal Control reminds residents that Connecticut state law requires all dogs over six months old to be licensed.

June starts new licenses for each new year.

Dogs must wear the tag at all times — a dog without a tag is presumed to be unlicensed and is not protected by law.

Additionally, a current rabies vaccination must be presented at the time of licensing, as well as a certificate from the veterinarian indicating that the animal has been spayed or neutered.

Download an application from the town clerk’s website HERE.

Stop at town hall or mail it in with your dog’s rabies certificate.

The fee is $8.00 for sterilized dogs and $19 for non-sterilized dogs. There is a $75.00 fine for failure to license your dog.

A percentage of the cost of licenses provides low cost spay/neuter for pets waiting to be adopted at municipal Animal Control shelters throughout Connecticut.
