Greenwich Jewish High Schoolers Mark 100 Days since Hostages Were Taken in Captivity during Impactful Event with IDF soldier from Gaza War Zone

Chabad of Greenwich created waves this past Sunday with the launch of its Israel Odyssey series, an exclusive five-part program for local high school students.

The inaugural event featured IDF soldier Mendel Gestetner, who shared gripping stories from his service in the Gaza war zone.

In an evening filled with raw narratives and authentic insights, Gestetner’s account provided students with a firsthand look at life on the front lines. Beyond mere information, the event aimed to spark a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diverse perspectives shaping the region.

Against the backdrop of growing global anti-Semitism, the event took on added significance by shedding light on the ongoing situation in Israel. Attendees left with a heightened respect for soldiers like Gestetner and a nuanced view of the challenges faced in the region.

The program also included engaging activities such as a Krav Maga session led by professional self-defense instructor Gus Bottazzi, promoting personal safety and empowerment. A flavorful touch was added with a Shawarma station courtesy of ‘Golan Heights NYC.’
