Neighbor to Neighbor Celebrates Annual Spring Luncheon

Neighbor to Neighbor held their Annual Spring Luncheon on Thursday, April 16 at the Greenwich Country Club, where 325 guests gathered in honor of the organization’s years of service and dedication to the Greenwich community.

This year’s event centered around the importance of food and how it brings people and communities together.

The event featured guest speakers, Jasmine Mitchell and Tom Arden, the Winner and Finalist of the Great British Bakeoff Season 16. Traveling all the way from London, England, the bakers’ passion for baking reflected a deep appreciation for food as a source of care and connection, making them a natural fit for the event.

Neighbor to Neighbor’s Executive Director, K. Brent Hill, presented a video highlighting the organization’s mission in action. The video offered a glimpse into the “day in the life” at Neighbor to Neighbor, featuring staff members, volunteers, and the individuals and families they serve.

“Our hope with this video was to give people a genuine window into what happens every day at Neighbor to Neighbor—the care, the dignity, and the human connections that define our work. The Spring Luncheon is a celebration of that same spirit. Just as food brings people together around a table, our mission is about building community, fostering belonging, and ensuring that every neighbor feels seen, supported, and valued,” Mr. Hill said.

Following the video, Mitchell and Arden took the stage to share stories during their time in the Bakeoff tent, as well as their own personal culinary journeys for a live Q&A session. Their conversations brought an element of fun and insightfulness, filled with behind-the-scenes moments from the show, and advice on perseverance and embracing challenges.

The last highlight of the afternoon was a showcase of local talent, featuring three professional bakers, Daina Olesen, Olivia Vinning, and Raphael, who presented their signature tarts to Mitchell and Arden. Awards were presented in three categories—Creativity, Technique, and Flavor—recognizing the unique strengths of each participant.

The Spring Luncheon 2026 not only celebrated culinary artistry but also reinforced Neighbor to Neighbor’s mission to strengthen the Greenwich community by providing access to nutritious food, clothing, and other essentials at no cost every week to low income-eligible residents, in an atmosphere of kindness and respect. The event reflected the organization’s belief that nourishment goes beyond the plate – it fosters belonging and hope.
