Mothers for Others to Hold Community Diaper Distribution Day on Sept 18, 2021

Mothers for Others, the largest independent diaper bank in lower Fairfield County, and the only dedicated diaper bank serving the town of Greenwich, will hold a Community Diaper Distribution Day on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 12:00 – 2:00pm.

It will take place at the Mothers for Others headquarters at the Second Congregational Church, 139 E Putnam Avenue, Greenwich.

This event is in response to the damage and loss experienced by many community members following Tropical Storm Ida.

Anyone who is in need of diapers can come to this event and receive a free one week supply of diapers for every child in their home up to age 3. In addition to diapers, Mothers for Others will provide information on services that can offer further assistance as families recover from the storm.

“Everyone in this area felt the effects of Ida,” said Elizabeth Peyton, Mothers for Others Executive Director in a release. “The Mothers for Others board of directors felt strongly about providing assistance to those who need it right now, and we know that the need for diapers often is more acute at times like these.”

Mothers for Others emphasizes that anyone who comes on Saturday will be given diapers. There will not be a registration or verification process for this one-time event.

“We know there are likely families who have not used Mothers for Others services in the past but need them at this time. We want to be sure every child who needs them has diapers right now,” Peyton added.

Community members looking for ways to support their neighbors can do so through this event. MFO welcomes donations of diapers as well as monetary donations to the Diaper Fund. “Those who experienced damage to their homes can really use the support of their community right now, and those in a position to help are eager to do so,” says Karen Giannuzzi, Mothers for Others founder and Board member. “We have seen this community come together before and we believe it will do so again.” For more information about donating, visit www.mothersforothers.org.
