Holiday Lights Initiative on Greenwich Ave and Cos Cob Announced by Greenwich Community Projects Fund

The Greenwich Community Projects Fund announces that the holiday lights will return, brighter than ever this season.

Through the collaborative fundraising efforts of Greenwich residents, Sebastian Dostmann and Alyssa Keleshian-Bonomo of GCPF, the trees will glow for the fourth year.

Along with making Greenwich Avenue merry and bright, the 2021 addition of lights throughout the Cos Cob business district meant more community members, business owners and spectators were included than ever before.

This year, on Thanksgiving night, the lights will be turned on along Greenwich Avenue, East Putnam Avenue from Church Street / Greenwich Avenue and in Cos Cob.

The lights will be up from Thanksgiving to the end of January 2024.

In deference to everyone sharing the limited parking on Greenwich Avenue, Mr. Dostmann said workers will wait until the end of the day to string the lights onto the trees.

GCPF encourages residents to go out and enjoy the lights this holiday season and support all the wonderful local businesses and organizations throughout the Town of Greenwich.

Mr. Dostmann and Ms Keleshian-Bonomo said there were grateful to all Greenwich residents, businesses and property owners who helped with fundraising efforts in 2022.

They would like to thank donors in advance for their support this year with the 2023 lights. Additionally they would like to thank the Office of the First Selectman, Rick Kral, and the Greenwich Parks & Recreation Tree Division for their gracious support of the tree lighting effort and help in its execution.

Everyone is invited to support this fully private initiative and keep the lights up by making a donation today.

Greenwich Community Projects Fund is a 501(c)(3) based in Greenwich, CT that raises money to support community-focused projects which have included the Cos Cob Park 9/11 Memorial as well as holiday lights in years past.

“This initiative would never have happened without the support of Greenwich Avenue landlords who have stepped up to donate, as well as retailers including Saks, Shreve Crump & Low, Restoration Hardware, Lugano Jewelers, and Miller Motors,” Keleshian-Bonomo said.

“We are also incredibly grateful to our town’s favorite restaurants – Moli, Hinoli, Miku, Terra, Mediterraneo, and East End whose donations to support the lights are always generous.”

“Please support all these local businesses,” Keleshian-Bonomo urged. “We are also grateful to the Greenwich Board of Retailers and brokerages like Sotheby’s who always participate to make the lights happen.”
