Western Middle School’s Parent Teacher Association has set up a GoFundMe page to cover the costs of a memorial service for Patty de Mata, who passed away unexpectedly on April 29, and to support her daughters during this challenging time.
The PTA referred to Ms de Mata as a friend, co-worker, and mom.
Patty was the administrative assistant at WMS and mom of Sarah (11th grade at GHS) and Sophia (8th grade at WMS).
“Patty brought positivity to Western Middle School every day by supporting each and every parent, student, and staff member that she came in contact with,” the PTA wrote on their GoFundMe page.
As of Thursday afternoon, $34,790 had been raised of a $50,000 goal.
“She was a wonderful colleague, friend and mother. Patty was a ray of sunshine and had a bright smile every day. She will be greatly missed by all of us.”
A memorial will be scheduled at a later date, (they expect later this month). With the funds raised, the WMS PTA will pay the funeral home for the memorial/burial expenses.
The WMS PTA together with GPS and community resources, will manage any additional funds to ensure they directly benefit Sarah and Sophia with any immediate and long term financial needs.
