Greenwich Police Alert Residents to BMW Theft Trend

Greenwich has experienced several Auto Thefts over the last several nights during the hours of 11:00pm and 5:00am of high-end motor vehicles, especially BMWs.

The suspects are targeting homes with these motor vehicles. If the key fobs are not within the vehicle the suspects are making entry into unlocked doors of the
vehicle owners’ homes.

Once inside they are searching for the keys to these vehicles, specifically in the “mud room” areas of the residence.

Greenwich Police have been setting up extra high visibility patrols along with detectives working an Auto theft detail.

Early Thursday morning (May 2) at approximately 3:20am the Greenwich Police located an auto theft crew and attempted to stop them.  Due to the high rate of speed the suspects could not be apprehended.

The Greenwich Police Dept is also working with other New York and Connecticut agencies in attempt to identify and apprehend these suspects committing these burglaries and
motor vehicle thefts.

Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and residence. Be sure to turn your alarms and outside cameras and report anything suspicious to the Police Department.
