Fairfield County Giving Day is coming up on March 10. The unique ”digital crowdfunding” event  will occur on March 10.  The goal is to help a wide range of the county’s caregiving and artistic nonprofits to enrich their service.

In March 2015’s Giving Day, 14,000 county residents raised $1 million (average gift $70) that were shared among 400 different Fairfield County nonprofits, a +40% increase in funds versus 2014.

Donations of $10 or more will be accepted through a simple internet giving device that can be accessed at FCGIVES.org.  All giving occurs on just one day … March 10.

The 400 nonprofits span a wide range of human needs (hunger, child advocacy, aging, low-income parenting, other) and community arts (choral, theater, music, dance, other). Twenty-four of the nonprofits are in Greenwich.  All 23 of the county’s towns are included.

On March 10, at the FCGIVES.org web site, donors designate the specific nonprofit for their contribution.  All donations from county residents are matched by partnering corporations, by a group of generous individuals, and by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.

“Our goals are to increase awareness of the diverse needs in our community, to encourage individual philanthropy, to uplift important programs which support our neighborhoods and our neighbors, and to stimulate collaborative enthusiasm in our county,” said the foundation’s President & CEO, Ms. Juanita James.

Among several generous regional companies, the event’s leading sponsors are Bank of America and Whole Foods.

Giving Day is conceived and implemented by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to implement novel collaborations among nonprofits and other community resources that effectively address difficult county challenges with new, innovation solutions.   For more information, call the foundation at 203-750-3200 or visit the Giving Day web site, www.FCGIVES.org
