Burke Rehabilitation Announces Award Recipients

Burke Rehabilitation is pleased to announce the annual Burke Award dinner will take place on June 8 at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY. This year, the Burke Award will be awarded to Craig and Suzanne Packer who have exhibited courage, strength and resilience after experiencing a life altering event. Suzanne has served on the Board of Directors of the Greenwich Red Cross for more than two decades organizing fund raising events and participating in hurricane relief missions throughout the United States.

Craig Packer is a Co-Founder and Senior Managing Director of Blue Owl, a publicly-traded alternative asset manager.

Retiring Burke Board of Trustees Chair, John R. McCarthy will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. John R. McCarthy has served as board member since 2008 and as Board Chair since 2018. Mr. McCarthy has guided Burke through challenging times during the pandemic and under his leadership, Burke accomplished multiple capital projects and expanded its footprint in the NY Metro area. Mr. McCarthy is the founder and President of McCarthy Associates, a commercial real estate brokerage firm.

The Burke Award is conferred upon an individual or group who has made significant contributions to the field of rehabilitation medicine through personal achievements, the development of research or the establishment of programs to assist individuals with disabilities.

“We are also grateful to Suzanne and Craig Packer, who have generously created the Suzanne and Craig Packer Safely Home Fund,” said Burke’s Executive Director Scott Edelman. “Their generosity will support our patients after they leave Burke and help them transition home. I would also like to thank Mr. McCarthy for his dedication to Burke and for serving with honesty and integrity. He will always be part of the Burke family.”

Proceeds from the Burke Award will support Burke’s outstanding rehabilitative services and the Suzanne and Craig Packer Safely Home Fund so all patients can lead a fulfilling life.
