Members of the Garden Club of Old Greenwich gathered outside at the Old Greenwich Social Club for a socially distant annual meeting in September.
In a peaceful transfer of power, President Kelly Forsberg who has fearlessly led the club for the past two years through the pandemic, handed the gavel over to new co-presidents Wendy Yu and Ellie Bowman who will continue to lead the group.
Several members also received awards for their outstanding work:
The Carter Trophy – awarded annually to the member who accumulated the greatest number of points in Horticulture competition
– Helen DeLago
The Dogwood Horticulture Award – awarded annually to the member who accumulated the second greatest number of points in Horticulture competition
– Wendy Yu
The Evelyn E. Marshburn Trophy – awarded biennially to the member amassing the greatest number of points in Flower Design competition
– Louise Weber
The Harriet Bennett Design Award – awarded biennially to the member amassing the second greatest number of points in Flower Design competition
– Vicki Hamet
The Nicole Standish Award – awarded annually to a member who had given outstanding service to the club
– Karen Handal
The Council of Presidents Award – awarded annually to a member who has demonstrated dedication in furthering the purposes of the club
