Christ Church Greenwich has been busy planning celebrations for its 275th Anniversary. On Friday, Sept 13, 204 at 6:00pm they will host an event featuring cocktails, dinner, dancing, and a book launch.
All are welcome to attend the special evening of fellowship, toasts, and a delicious seated dinner catered by the owners of Applausi Restaurant in Old Greenwich, Columbus Park Trattoria. Choose from a selection of three delicious entrees at ticket purchase.
Guests can dance after dinner to the nine-piece Showtime Dance Band, who will play a wide variety of oldies and new hits.
The church has been a faith leader in Greenwich and the spiritual home for George H. W. Bush, the high society Rockefeller Lincoln wedding, the Memorial Service for Lauren Bessette and her sister, Carolyne Bessette Kennedy, married to John F. Kennedy, Jr.
One month ago, the Christ Church Greenwich choirs sang at Westminster Abbey, the Anglican church for the Royals, most recently where King Charles was crowned, Queen Elizabeth’s funeral was held, and many of the infamous Royal Weddings.
Special Guest, The Right Rev. Jeffrey Mello, Bishop Diocesan of The Episcopal Church in Connecticut, will join the Rector of Christ Church Greenwich, Rev. Marek Zabriskie, to honor the church’s history and bless the next 275 years.
Senior Warden, Dominic Casserly, will pay tribute to some of the ministries that have been pillars of the church throughout the history of Greenwich.
Rev. Zabriskie gives thanks to those that came before, and continue to uphold our mission when he says, “We owe a debt of gratitude to the committed parishioners whose tireless efforts and sacrificial service have played an integral role in building Christ Church Greenwich to its present stature, propelling us forward, ensuring that our church remains a beacon of light and hope in an ever-changing world.”
In September, Christ Church Greenwich is also celebrating the launch of their new hardbound coffee table book, Celebrating 275 Years at Christ Church Greenwich. The book is a visual, narrated timeline that includes their role in the Town of Greenwich history, a fascinating read full of historical visuals.
The book will be available at Dogwood Books & Gifts, located inside Christ Church Greenwich, after Labor Day.
