Sorokin Gallery Announces Solo Exhibition of Florida Artist, Jeremy Turpin, “Levels of Beauty”

Sorokin Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming solo exhibition of Florida artist, Jeremy Turpin, “Levels of Beauty,” curated by Kicki Storm.

The exhibition will feature twelve women of different ethnic backgrounds in addition to an auction painting of Gold Medalist Simone Biles.

Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.

Sorokin Gallery chose Simone Biles not only because she is a World Champion gymnast, but also a champion for children and an advocate for youth supporting and empowering children who face the greatest challenges including foster care, intergenerational poverty and mental health.

Turpin grew up in Buffalo and Long Island New York and now lives in Tampa, Florida with his wife and children.

He is a self-taught artist who has been drawing and painting since childhood.  He grew up in a creative family where he felt the energy of his father’s music and the joy in his mother’s dance movements.

Turpin’s artwork is always developing and evolving.  He takes inspiration from life’s lessons to the beauty he sees in people.

“I allow my work to speak for itself and for the viewer to take away their individual perceptions and emotions,” Turpin said.

Turpin uses his insight and talent to teach adults how to create their own artwork.  He teaches at K2 Academy, a day program for disabled adults in Tampa Florida.

“Artistic expression is a form of therapy for many, particularly those who may not otherwise have the ability to do so through regular communication methods,” he said. “I find that art has not only helped my students to discover untapped abilities, but has also given them outlets of expression and a connection to a world that is not always designed for them.  Being an art teacher continues to fuel my motivation to advocate for the arts.”

Turpin’s collectors are based throughout the U.S. and he has exhibited in numerous Art shows and galleries.

Please come to the Opening night Thursday, October 17,  from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Sorokin Gallery, 96 Greenwich Avenue.

The artist talk is Saturday October 19 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
