Open Mic Night with Greenwich Pen Women Set for May 15 at Greenwich Library

It’s time to seize the spotlight! Greenwich Pen Women, a non-profit organization of local women artists, writers, and musicians, invites the public to share their creative works at Greenwich Library’s Marx Family Black Box Theater on May 15 at 7:00pm.

An open mic night is a live, in-person event, coordinated in real time. As participants arrive, they sign up for a five-minute time slot on a first-come, first-served basis. All are welcome to present regardless of gender or Greenwich Pen Women membership.

“The event is free and open to the public. Attendees can choose to participate as speakers or to listen and enjoy,” said Greenwich Pen Women executive vice president and Letters member Diane Morello. “When writers and creatives come together to speak their work aloud, they hone their skills and amplify the power of their voices.”

Five minutes is enough time for writers to read 500-700 words of fiction, memoir, poetry, essays, scenes, lyrics, blogs, or other work. Artists and composers can use five minutes to share the inspiration and meaning of a painting, photo, or musical piece.

Greenwich Pen Women will moderate the evening and manage the clock.
