International School at Dundee Students to Perform Aladdin Kids!

Students at International School at Dundee (ISD) are set to perform Disney’s Aladdin Kids on November 16 and 17.

Based on the 1992 Disney film, this spectacular 30-minute musical designed for elementary school-aged performers, is directed by Cindy Busani, teaching artist for Open Arts Alliance, music directed by ISD music teacher and choir director, Dr. Sandra Heikel, and produced by the ISD PTA and a team of 5th grade parent volunteers.

After weeks of rehearsals, the cast, which includes 29 fifth grade students and 13 third and 4th grade members of the Junior Ensemble, will be performing Aladdin to the ISD community for the first time.

“Open Arts Alliance is honored and thrilled to be collaborating with ISD for the fourth year, this time for their fall musical,” said Rocco Natale, executive director at Open Arts Alliance.

“Our organizations share common values which include supporting arts education to help foster social-emotional connections, building strong relationships, and creating a strong educational foundation that will encourage children to become life-long learners,” Natale added. “We are grateful to the amazing team – Ana Laborde, Cindy Busani, Sandra Heikel, and all the volunteers at ISD community who help make this production a reality.”

“Aladdin is such a special production that truly captures the hearts and minds of everyone who sees it because it reminds us all of what it truly means to be rich, and it’s not in the form of gold treasure or infinite power, but by the relationships we make and our ability to be true to ourselves,” said ISD Principal, Dana Firmender. “As a community, ISD believes in encouraging our students to value the relationships they make during their elementary school years as well as remind them that the future holds an infinite amount of possibilities as long as they never stop believing in their own potential.”

Ring bells! Bang the drums! You will love this exciting stage adaptation of the legendary tale of the lovable thief with the heart of gold! Join Aladdin, Jasmine, and the fast-talking, wisecracking Genie as they discover mystical caves, take magic carpet rides, and outwit the evil sorcerer, Jafar.

Adapted especially for young performers, this musical includes favorite Alan Menken songs such as “Friend Like Me,” “A Whole New World,” and “Prince Ali.” With colorful characters and non-stop adventure, Aladdin KIDS is a crowd-pleaser for all ages.
