Oklahoma! opens on Thursday in Greenwich High School’s performing arts center, with performances on May 16, 17, and 18.
“Oklahoma!,” was adapted by Rodgers and Hammerstein from Lynn Riggs’s 1931 play, “Green Grow the Lilacs.”
It has a simple plot. At the turn of the century, in the Oklahoma Territory, a cowboy named Curly wants to take Laurey, a farm girl, to a box social, as does Jud Fry, her family’s menacing hired hand.
At GHS, Oklahoma is directed by Patty Cirigliano.
Musical Direction by Matt Stolfi.
Technical Direction by Scott Borowka.
Because Monday’s dress rehearsal coincided with AP tests, the understudy for Maeve Carey as Laurey Williams was YeonWoo Kook. The understudy for Annabelle Edgell as Aunt Eller was Fernanda Salazar. Also, on Monday, understudy for Steven Csak as Ali Hakim was Henry Freyer.
