The Special Needs Senior Dog Sanctuary, in Stamford, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to caring for abandoned and medically fragile senior dogs, is seeking emergency community support after a devastating flash flood on July 21 destroyed the lower level where 13 senior dogs live and receive daily care. Restoration efforts are underway.

The Special Needs Senior Dog Sanctuary has cared for abandoned, neglected, and medically fragile senior dogs since 2012.
WHY IT MATTERS:
- 13 senior dogs with special needs have lost their living spaces
- Flood destroyed flooring, walls, insulation, doors, laundry facilities, and essential care equipment
- Due to FEMA and insurance classifications, the sanctuary level is considered a “basement” and is not covered by flood insurance
- The sanctuary has rescued 44 senior dogs since 2012, providing end-of-life care for animals abandoned due to age, illness, or disability
URGENT NEEDS:
- Water damage restoration
- Drywall, insulation, and flooring replacement
- Electrical repairs
- Commercial laundry equipment (essential for daily washing of bedding and towels)
- Dog living area restoration
- Replacement of damaged supplies and equipment
