James R. Salerno, 93

James R. Salerno of Cos Cob, passed away December 12, 2025, at age 93. He was born on April 11, 1932 to James J. and Elizabeth (nee DiDomenico) Salerno. James proudly served in the U.S. Air National Guard and Air Force from 1949 to 1956. He went on to become the proprietor of James Salerno Plumbing & Heating, a business he proudly operated for 30 years.

James had a great love of flying, holding a commercial pilot’s license. He also enjoyed playing golf and was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. Most importantly, he loved to spend time with his family, beginning with his beloved wife of 65 years, Marguerita (nee Christiano).

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his cherished children, Diane Erlingeuser (David), Catherine Thorson (Jim), Joan Villegas (Jorge), Barbara Ferrone, Stephen Salerno (Deana) and Thomas Salerno (Corinne). James is also the loving grandfather of Matthew, Christy, Jeffrey, Andrew, Emily, Eric, Sarah, Christopher, Cooper, Michelle and Elizabeth and great grandfather of Ryan, Ariana, Zoey, Sophia, Natalia, Mia, Nico, Hannah, Oaklynne and Matthew Jr.

Family and friends will gather in James’ honor on Wednesday, December 17 from 4:00-8:00pm at Coxe & Graziano, 134 Hamilton Ave in Greenwich.

Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, December 18 at 10:00am at St. Catherine of Siena in Riverside followed by inurnment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
