Open Arts Alliance Announces Auditions for Shrek the Musical + Registraton for Disney’s 101 Dalmation Kids

Open Arts Alliance is proud to announce auditions for its upcoming Mainstage Musical production of Shrek: The Musical (TYA Version).

Auditions will be held December 1, 2 & 3 at 5:00pm at 299 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830.

Callbacks will take place on December 6 at 10:00am.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film, Shrek The Musical is a hilarious fairy-tale adventure that turns classic storybook endings upside down. Featuring a cast of beloved characters—including a grumpy ogre, a chatty donkey, and a princess with a secret—Shrek celebrates self-acceptance, friendship, and the power of true love’s unconventional kiss. With show-stopping numbers like “I Know It’s Today,” “Freak Flag,” and “Big Bright Beautiful World,” audiences of all ages will delight in this big-hearted hit.

Performances of Shrek: The Musical will take place April 17-18 2026, at the historic Irvington Theatre. The Irvington, modeled after Ford’s Theatre, is a historic performing arts venue celebrated for its intimate charm and vibrant community programming.

Originally built in 1902, the theater has long served as a cultural cornerstone hosting a diverse range of performances—from plays and musicals to concerts, comedy, and independent film screenings. With its elegant architecture and commitment to supporting local and emerging artists, the Irvington Theater continues to bring world-class entertainment to audiences while preserving its rich heritage as a gathering place for creativity and connection.

The production will be directed by Jennifer Dunn. Dunn will be joined by Robin Chenot (Music Director), John Curtis (Artistic Associate), Patrick Hatch (Managing Director), Cindy Busani (Director of Programs) and Katie Breen (Education Director).

All youth in grades 1-12 are encouraged to audition for this multiage program. Pre-registration is required at www.OpenArtsAlliance.com by November 30th. Students need only attend one audition date. Those auditioning should prepare to sing a short song of their choice a cappella and will be taught a short dance combination.

In addition to this auditioned production, Open Arts Alliance will be offering a class-based program featuring Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS for students in grades 1-5. Each of the three distinct OAA seasons (Summer, Fall and Spring) feature different educational missions and emphasis on performance, music and dance.
