As someone who has had the privilege of having spent the past 40 years as a Greenwich resident who cares deeply about responsible budgeting but also investing in our town resources, I am proud to support Matt DesChamps for re-election to the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET).
Since 1985, Greenwich has been my home. I grew up playing on its fields, swimming in its pools, and attending its fantastic schools. As a 1993 graduate of Greenwich High School, I received a world-class education that prepared me for the challenges of adulthood and provided me with countless friendships that last until this day. I valued my time in Greenwich so much that I chose to come back to town after college and raise a family here. I am now a proud father of four children who have attended schools in Greenwich, both public and private. I am a moderate Republican who has often crossed party lines to vote for the candidate and not the party.
As someone who has led several non-profit organizations in town, including the YMCA of Greenwich and the Greenwich Athletic Foundation, I understand that we need to continually reinvest in our town’s resources and assets to continue to make Greenwich a desirable place to live. We have not done an adequate job as a town to date, as evidenced by both our aging school and athletic facilities.
I have had the pleasure of getting to know Matt for the past 20 years as our children grew up together. Matt understands that Greenwich needs stable, fact-based leadership—leaders who put results before politics and who know how to build consensus across party lines. As a former Republican, Matt has seen firsthand how political infighting and dysfunction in the current Greenwich political landscape have eroded trust, delayed essential projects, and jeopardized the responsible financial management our town deserves.
With 30 years of experience on Wall Street and as a Certified Public Accountant, Matt brings unmatched expertise in finance, accountability, and strategic planning. He’s built businesses, guided families toward financial security, and understands that transparency and discipline are the foundations of sound budgeting.
Matt knows that keeping taxes low and maintaining excellent town services aren’t mutually exclusive—they require discipline, foresight, and collaboration. That’s the kind of leadership we need, and he is willing to work with the Republicans on getting our town back on track.
On November 4th, I urge my fellow residents to vote for Matt DesChamps to bring accountability, transparency, and balance back to Greenwich’s finances.
Sincerely,
Rob Burton
