Hector Arzeno is a Voice for Young People in Hartford

Submitted by Ethan Cooper, Cos Cob

During the many hours I spent on the Merritt Parkway with State Representative Hector Arzeno in the Spring of 2025, I learned quite a lot about the man who represents me and my neighbors in the Connecticut General Assembly.

I served as Hector Arzeno’s intern at the State Capitol in Hartford during my senior year at Greenwich High School, and I saw firsthand how much he gives to the service of his constituents every single day. During the weeks I commuted with Hector to Hartford, I saw every early morning, every late night, and every tough or tiring day brightened by his warm and encouraging smile.

Hector was a thoughtful and generous supervisor, and every day was a look behind the scenes at the work that he does for our community. I watched him work with party leaders and legislators on both sides of the aisle to achieve the best for Greenwich, all while taking the time to educate me on the legislative processes and politics of state government. He taught me a lot about his role in Hartford and how he works with his fellow legislators to get things done for Greenwich.

Since first taking his seat in 2023, Hector has demonstrated his care for young people and future generations in our town through the work he has done, both with his own party and on a bipartisan basis, on issues such as education funding and environmental protection. Through his service on the Education, Environment, and Higher Education and Employment committees, among others, he has brought resources home to Greenwich to help young people thrive.

Central Middle School is a key example of Hector’s visible impact in our community. When the project to replace the failing school building was put at risk of further delays due to funding issues, Hector negotiated tirelessly to bring home $22M in funding from the state. More recently, he secured $8M for Old Greenwich School, filling funding gaps and helping critical projects to move forward for the benefit of local students.

Hector has our back. Whether he’s working in Hartford to fund our schools or picking up trash at local cleanups here in Greenwich, he’s sowing seeds that future generations will reap. Working with Hector showed me just how much he cares about all of us, including the young people he represents and the future generations that will inhabit our town. I wouldn’t just take my word for it, though. Hector’s endorsements speak volumes about his devotion to his current and future neighbors. Endorsements from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, Independent Party of Connecticut, and the Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut reflect Hector’s commitment to bipartisanship, education, and the environment that his grandchildren will inherit.

That is why I am proud to support Hector Arzeno’s campaign to continue serving as our State Representative here in the 151st district. I hope you will join me in casting your ballot for a true public servant and a great neighbor.

Election Day is November 3rd, and early voting is open until November 1st. Make your plan to vote here: https://www.greenwichct.gov/611/Voting-Hours-Locations
