In view of the article that appeared in a recent Greenwich Free Press, where Greenwich’s First Selectman, with a big smile on his face, was helping to cut the ribbon to open the state-of-the-art ice rink on the Stamford/Greenwich border, (Wings Arena In Stamford Marks Grand Opening with Ribbon Cutting September 7, 2025) have any of the proponents of a new ice rink in Greenwich reconsidered the economics of a separate, costly new rink in Greenwich?
Do we really need to burden Greenwich taxpayers with this expense when a new rink has just opened that might satisfy the needs of the minority of Greenwich’s population that needs or wants an ice rink?
Is it time to stop the divisive fighting over where to place a new Greenwich ice rink and join with our larger neighbor to ensure the new Stamford/Greenwich rink is a success?
