All veterans, civic organizations, schools and groups are invited to march. Weather permitting, please join the BVA outside the club after the parade for light refreshments.

Cos Cob VFW Post 10112 Ceremony on Saturday, May 29  at 10:30am at the Cos Cob Dock VFW Memorial on Strickland Road. This is a brief ceremony to honor veterans lost their lives in service to our country.

The Jim Fixx Memorial Day road race is back! In 2020 the race was held virtually, but this year it will be live on Monday, May 31 starting at 8:15 am. One difference is it will be a 5K, which is roughly 3.1 miles. The reason has to do with bridge construction in Bruce Park and has nothing to do with the pandemic.

However, according to Sue Snyder of Parks & Rec, there will not be a kids half mile race on the track due to the pandemic. “The half mile race on the track would have too many kids on the track crowding together at one time.”

Pre-registration is online only. Registration Closes 11:59pm on Saturday, May 29, 2021 No Race Day Registration or Number pick-up

Number Pick-up is at Betteridge Jewelers only. Betteridge is located at 239 Greenwich Ave on Saturday, May 29 from 10:00am to 2:00pm and on Sunday May 30 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.

“We’re doing waves of 50 runners based on time,” Snyder explained. “The fastest runners will go first, followed by slower heats of runners. Electronic timing will be by chip mats at the start and finish of the races. That way we can socially distance at the start of the race. Normally there is just chip timing at the end of the race.

There will be no physical posting of results and no awards ceremony. Runners can learn of their time online or via a text message. Medals for any age group winners will be mailed.
