Saturday’s Battle of the Badges blood drive was a great success. All the appointments to give blood were full, which will benefit the blood bank, and 15 percent of people who participated were first time donors.
Chief Heavey thanked everyone who signed up to donate blood and participate in the friendly competition between the Greenwich emergency services.
The results are:
Police 23 donors
Fire 14 donors
EMS 11 donors
Chief Heavey said he hoped that giving the gift of life by donating blood will become a habit. “Everyone wins when you donate blood,” he said.
Anyone wishing to donate blood is advised to visit redcrossblood.org to find more blood drive opportunities. Donations are still in high demand.
