GPD: Partially Sunken Vessel at Riverscape Marina

On Tuesday around 8:30am, the operator of the Greenwich Shellfish Commission vessel hailed the Coast Guard and the Greenwich Police Marine Section to notify Greenwich Police of a partially sunken vessel in the area of the Riverscape Marina.

Upon arrival, Marine Officers observed the vessel was leaking oil and requested Greenwich Fire Department respond with booms to contain the spill while employees of Harbors End attempted to de-water the vessel.

The Connecticut DEEP Emergency Response Team arrived on-scene along with a Coast Guard Spill Response Team and took control of the scene.

Police say that the Connecticut DEEP related that a commercial HAZMAT team would likely be needed to raise the boat.
