Westchester County Police Investigate Crash on Saw Mill River Pkwy in Bedford

Westchester County Police shared news on their Facebook about an incident on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Bedford on Tuesday afternoon involving an SUV that drove into the rear of a tractor trailer and became wedged underneath.

The SUV was traveling southbound when the incident took place around 1:45pm.

The driver of the SUV, who was the only occupant, had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the Westchester County Police Dept Emergency Services Unit, Bedford Hills Fire Dept and Katonah Fire Dept.

Westchester County Police said the injured driver received medical care during the extrication from Westchester EMS and Katonah Bedford Hills VAC personnel, and was conscious upon removal from the vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

The full circumstances of the collision are under investigation by the Westchester County Police Dept Accident Investigation Team and detectives from the General Investigations Unit. The New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit also responded to conduct an inspection of the tractor trailer.

“We commend all of the agencies involved for the teamwork and skill they demonstrated at the scene of this challenging incident,” Westchester County Police Dept said.
