Susan Pyle, 59

Susan Pyle, a resident of Greenwich for 59 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019. Susie was born on Oct. 28, 1959 in Norwalk, CT to the late Betty Pyle. She was raised in Riverside, CT and attended Greenwich’s first “all ability” pre-school that Abilis (formerly known as Greenwich ARC) co-founded in 1969. She later attended Greenwich Public Schools supported by special needs programs.

Susie loved to travel and spend time with loved ones. She was known for her great sense of humor and witty one liners. At a young age, Susie had a local paper route and as an adult she worked at Boxcar Cantina, Thataway café, and later the WWE. She also volunteered with CT Health/Regal Care.

In June 2008, Susie moved into an Abilis residence where she had the opportunity to make new friends and participate in a wide variety of social activities with her peers. Susie loved working at the Abilis gift shop and socializing with her friends on a daily basis. Susie left an impression on everyone that she was acquainted with.

Susie is survived by her brother, Steven, and her uncle, Bill Braley. Susie was deeply loved and will be missed by her family and friends at Abilis.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 at Abilis located at 50 Glenville St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Abilis, 50 Glenville Street, Greenwich, CT.
