Man Familiar to GPD Charged with Possession of Suboxone, Needles and 4.5″ Buck Knife

Greenwich Police have arrested Greenwich resident David Giacomara, again.

This time police stopped a car on West Putnam Ave on Monday around 9:30pm. Police say that based on information learned during the investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted.

Giacomara, 24, of 11 River Street in Greenwich, was a passenger in the car. When questioned by officers, he attempted to deceive them by providing a false name.

“Having had several previous encounters with the subject, officers on scene were able to positively identify him,” police said in a release, adding that Giacomara was in possession of several Suboxone sublingual films, a controlled substance that he does not have a current prescription for. He was also in possession of several used hypodermic needles, which he related he used to inject heroin and a ‘buck’ knife with approximately 4.5″ blade. He did not provide any reasonable excuse for possessing this weapon.

Giacomara was charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Weapons in a Motor Vehicle, Interfering with an Officer.

About a week ago, Giacomara was arrested for stealing a gym bag that was inside a car. The owner of the bag said it contained sweaty gym clothes and New Balance shoes.

He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Nov 12, 2018 and was released on a Promise to Appear in court.

In October 2015, when he was 21, he was in trouble for missing a court appearance for Driving with a Suspended License.

In Dec 2015 he was arrested by warrant in the Greenwich Hospital Emergency Room for Probation Violations and Failure to Appear in Court.

One probation violation was for an April 7, 2012 incident on Old Orchard Rd in Riverside where he accompanied a friend to a residence where the friend was taking care of cats and stealing cash and household items.
