Fugitive from Justice also Faces Charges for 2006 Burglary 2, Criminal Mischief 2

Leone Marcelino Figueroa, 45, of 80 City View Ave in West Springfield, MA was arrested by Greenwich Police on April 11 and charged with begin a Fugitive from Justice because he was wanted by the Virginia Beach Police Dept following a probation violation

He was also charged by Greenwich Police with Burglary 2 and Criminal Mischief 2 for an incident stemming back to May 1, 2006 on East James Street in Byram, for which his bond was set at $25,000

According to Lt. Kraig Gray, back in 2006, Police received a 911 call from a resident regarding an unknown person in a residence.

“She heard a loud noise and the sound of glass breaking and went downstairs thinking it was her husband breaking a glass in the kitchen,” Gray said.

Officers arrived after the victim locked herself in a 2nd story bathroom. Police cordoned off area, brought in multiple units and observed a broken window and a second story air conditioning unit on the ground. Also, according to Lt Gray, detectives located bloody hand prints on a window and learned a purse had been taken from within the house.

Police seized blood among other evidence, but closed the case in January 2008 after a dearth of leads. However, Gray said, two months after closing the case police received  notification that the DNA they had submitted as part of the evidence came back to an alias used by Mr. Figueroa, who has several aliases.

“He had a lengthy criminal history of convictions for larceny, assaults, burglaries and narcotics,” Gray said.

Police applied for a warrant, but learned Mr. Figueroa had been out on probation and was arrested on unrelated charges in Oneida County NY.

“He served his time in New York and then came here to answer for his crime here,” Gray said, adding that Figueroa will also answer for crimes in VA.

Mr. Figueroa has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on April 25, 2017.
