Western Middle School 8th Graders to Showcase Their Capstone Projects

As part of their culminating educational experience at Western Middle School, 8th grade students will complete and present a“Capstone Project” at three events this year. On Thursday, May 17 and Friday, May 18 students will present their projects in Western Middle School’s auditorium and media center from 8:15am-12:30pm.

On Monday, June 11, select projects will be displayed and presented at Greenwich Public Library from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.

All events are open to the public. The “Capstone Project” is a way for students to demonstrate their research, writing, and presenting skills that they have developed throughout middle school. Months are spent researching and writing about a problem found in a community of their choice.

Perspectives range from the local Greenwich community to the global community. Working with mentor teachers, students design a solution the problems and express their ideas through multimedia projects. The event showcases the work completed and the changes WMS students are striving to make in this world.

The community is encouraged to attend events at the school and the library. Attendance to the school event will require an RSVP to [email protected]. No RSVP is required for the library event. More information about the library event can be found on the Greenwich Library’s web page.
