Julian Curtiss School pulled out all the stops for students on the first day of the 2024-2025 school year. Eduardo Calderón, who was appointed principal of the school by Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones last April, welcomed families in the field and said how grateful he was to staff who got the building ready this week for students.

Families enjoyed the photo wall with balloons that was set up in the field and Chief Heavey and Officer Diaz took brought along a giant police teddy bear for photos opportunities.
The highlight of the welcome ceremony was a red carpet set up at the front entrance of the building. Classes were dismissed by grade and teacher from the field and the students walked the red carpet together to mark their arrival and the beginning of an exciting new school year.
This year, the school’s enrollment is 237 students, including students in two pre-k classrooms.
