Greenwich Library Extends Hours for Midterm Exam Weeks in January

Greenwich Library will once again offer extended hours to accommodate the study needs of high school students during midterm exams in January. Dozens of students use the Library as a quiet study space during exams, both as individuals and as an ideal location for group study. As always, Library staff will be available to assist with reference questions.

The Main Library will remain open from 9:00am until 10:00pm  on Monday, January 14 through Thursday, January 17.

(There will be no extended hours Friday and Saturday; regular schedule applies).

Note that the Library is closed on Monday, January 21 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Extended hours dates are subject to change depending on the schools’ schedule and snow day cancellations.

For refreshments, the Library Café will remain open until 7:00pm on Monday, January 14 through Thursday, January 17.

The Café is closed on Sundays.

Please note that no outside food of any kind is allowed in the café seating area, whether open or closed.

The branch libraries will also offer extended hours.

The Byram Shubert Library will remain open until 9:00pm on Tuesday, January 15 through Thursday, January 17.

The Cos Cob library will stay open until 9:00pm  on Tuesday, January 15.

“We are pleased to welcome Greenwich students to the Library to find a convenient place to study, review notes and connect with their peers as they prepare for midterms,” said Barbara Ormerod-Glynn, Greenwich Library Director.

Ormerod-Glynn said the library staff look forward to the buzz of activity that surrounds the Library during this time of the year.

All three Library locations offer creatively arranged extra seating options for the influx of students. Note that no outside food is allowed in any of the Libraries.

The Library will be open late primarily for students, but anyone can use the facility during these extended hours.

Ormerod-Glynn said because students like to study in groups, the noise level in the Library may be a little higher than usual, both during extended hours and regular Library hours on exam days.
