Greenwich High School Varsity Cheerleading Team Win the 2025 FCIAC Championship

The Greenwich High School Varsity Cheerleading team put on an incredible performance this past weekend at the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC), earning them the 2025 FCIAC Championship.

The Cardinals captured the title over runner-up Danbury and third-place Stamford.

“I’m so proud of this team,” said Julia Vyskocil, Varsity Head Coach and Head of GHS Cheer Program.

“These athletes are determined, hardworking, passionate and resilient. And when they got on the mat for FCIACs, they trusted each other, trusted their training, trusted the process, and fought their hardest to achieve this amazing goal.” In addition to the team’s win, co-captains Sierra Erensen, Jane Trager, and Siera Rollins were named to the ALL FCIAC Team, which honors the top 20 athletes at the competition.

It has been 21 years since Greenwich High School Varsity Cheerleading has taken home this title. In the previous two seasons they finished in second place, making this year’s win even more exciting.

Cheerleading competitions are scored by judges, with the winner receiving the highest score.  The GHS Varsity team was a staggering 4.5 points ahead of their nearest competitor, scoring a 96.15 out of 100 to secure the FCIAC Championship title.

The cheer season will continue for the team culminating with the State Championship scheduled for March 1 at Trumbull High School.
