Victim Struck in Head with Baseball Bat by Man Avenging Alleged Sexual Advances to His Wife

On July 27, 2016 at 7:13am Greenwich Police were dispatched to 120 Perkins Rd to investigate a report of an alleged assault that occurred within the parking lot.

Upon arrival at the scene, the victim stated that he was allegedly struck in the head with a baseball bat and his vehicle was vandalized. The victim was subsequently transported to the Greenwich Hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Officers were able to identify the perpetrator to be Gilmar Obdulio Cana-Montufar, 35, of 21 Perry Street in Stamford.

Cana-Montufar was taken into custody at his residence. According to police Cana-Montufar, who drove to the parking lot with the intention of confronting the victim regarding alleged sexual advances he made towards his wife, struck the victim on the head with a baseball bat and then proceeded to smash all of the windows of the victim’s car before fleeing the scene.

Cana-Montufar was charged Carrying a dangerous instrument, Criminal Mischief 1st degree, Disorderly Conduct and Assault 3rd Degree Physical Injury.

Gilmar Obdulio Cana-Montufar a bond of $2,500, and was ordered to appear in Stamford Court on August 10, 2016.
