Undercover Greenwich Police Snag Local Man Trying to Sell Stolen Subaru

Greenwich Police report that after Subaru Legacy was taken from a residential driveway in Greenwich during the overnight night hours between Jan 12 and Jan 13, the registered owners reported the car stolen and that they had left the keys in the car.

An individual described as a cooperating source by the Greenwich Police contacted the Narcotics Section about the stolen vehicle. The cooperating source provided information that allowed undercover investigators to negotiate with a suspect in possession of a stolen Subaru which he was seeking to sell.

Greenwich Police Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Wade Curley, 24, of 6 Benders Drive in Greenwich.

With the assistance of the cooperating source, detectives acted in an undercover capacity and negotiated with Curley who sought $10,000 for the sale of the stolen Subaru.

Mr. Curley agreed to meet and subsequently arrived at the prearranged location within the Town of Greenwich in the stolen Subaru where he was met by Greenwich Police Detectives and placed under arrest without incident.

Mr. Curley was arrested on Jan. 13 and charged with Larceny 1st degree, Criminal Mischief 1st degree and Possession of Marijuana less than 1/2 oz. His bond was set at $50,000 which he was unable to post. He has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 20.
