Suspects from Queens Charged for Attempting to Steal $7,000 from Local Banks

Greenwich Police arrested two men from Queens, NY on Thursday afternoon after plainclothes officers observed suspicious activity involving two men “while at several local banks.”

On Thursday, bike patrol officers and plain clothes officers working in the area of Greenwich Avenue detained and identified two suspects, Yaming Wang, 42 and Guo Qiao Lin, 46.

Police say Mr. Lin impersonated two victims using fraudulent New Jersey ID’s that featured the victim’s personal identifying information in an attempt to withdraw a total of $7,000 between banks.

A search of Mr. Wang’s vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia in the form of smoking pipes and a powdery white substance they suspected was methamphetimaine. Additionally, the search revealed an additional 7 ID’s with different victim information and 4 corresponding Social Security cards matching the IDs.

His bond was set at $100,000, which he was unable to post. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 23, 2023.
