On Christmas day, around 11:40pm, a Greenwich Police officer in a marked patrol car spotted two cars stopped at the green light on Indian Field Rd at the on ramp for I94 north at exit 4.
According to police, the cars were stopped side by side and the occupants appeared to be talking.
As the officer pulled up behind the cars, an Audi and a Honda, the cars both suddenly accelerated onto I95 at a high rate of speed.
The officer put on his lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicles. (The Audi was last seen traveling north on I95 at a high rate of speed.)
The Honda exited I95 at exit 6 at Harvard Ave and crashed into a light pole and parked car. When the Greenwich Police officer arrives at the site of the crash, he apprehended two of the three juveniles. The unidentified third person fled on foot wearing a dark hoodie.
Two juveniles, 17 year old’s from Bridgeport, were taken into custody at the scene.
The car they crashed was a Honda Civic that had been stolen from Bridgeport.
The two apprehended juveniles were transported to Stamford Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the crash.
According to Lt Slusarz, Stamford Police helped Greenwich Police, who sent canine Kato to the scene to try to get a track.
“We’re hoping to be able to interview them and see what leads develop,” said Lt Slusarz on Monday morning.
