Report of Fraudulent Bank Transaction Results in Numerous Charges

Greenwich Police arrested a Brooklyn man on Wednesday for an incident at a bank in the area of Greenwich Avenue.

Police said that officers responded to the bank on a report of a fraudulent transaction in progress.

Patrol officers and plain clothes officers detained and identified the suspect as Timothy Bailey, 54. According to the criminal information summary Mr. Bailey conspired with at least one other person and presented a counterfeit Pennsylvania driver’s license featuring Bailey’s photo and a victim’s name in an attempt to deposit and subsequently withdraw $2,100 from a check payable to the victim.

A search incident to the arrest revealed counterfeit credit/debit card with the victim’s name and a piece of paper with practice signatures of the victim.

Bailey was charged with Criminal Attempt Larceny 3, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3, Identity Theft 2, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2, Criminal Impersonation, Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation, forgery 2, Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 2, Forgery 3, and Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3.

His bond was set at $5,000 which he was unable to post. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on May 1, 2024.
