Port Chester Police Warn of Scam Involving Parking Ticket Payments

On Thursday Port Chester Police announced details about a scam involving the court.

According to the police, the scam involves victims receiving phone calls saying they owe several thousand dollars in unpaid parking ticket fines payable to the Port Chester Courts.

“They are than offered a ‘plea’ deal in which they need to pay several hundred dollars via money order as soon as possible, which they do,” police said. “Some people have come to the court where they still have outstanding violations or never were issued any violations in the Village of Port Chester.”

Police alert residents that no one will ever call them from the court offering any kind of “plea deal.”

Anyone with questions is asked to contact the court prior to sending money.

Port Chester Police are investigating the scam, and warn, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
