Port Chester Man Faces Multiple Drug Charges Following Late Night Motor Vehicle Stop

Dominick Thomas Labarta, 21, of 54 Halstead Ave in Port Chester was arrested on Saturday at about 2:15am after Police stopped him on West Putnam Ave at the intersection with Edgewood Ave.

At about 1:19am, Greenwich Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a blue 2005 Dodge Neon with New York plates after noticing the car had a broken headlight.

During the course of the investigation, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the car, and during a search found a plastic bag of suspected marijuana.

After denying having any marijuana, the passenger in the car was found to be holding a second plastic bag of suspected marijuana hidden in his underpants.

Along with the second bag, a large sum of US currency was located in the front pocket of the pocket of the front passenger seat. Both plastic bags appeared to contain the same amount, which totaled approximately one half ounce in each bag.

A subsequent search of the car revealed a small scale littered with suspected marijuana on it, and a cigar, which is commonly used for smoking marijuana.

The front seat passenger claimed that all the contraband was his.

Mr. Labarta was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Paraphernalia Cannabis Substance, Illegal Possession of Marijuana and Interfering with an Officer.

His bond was set at $500 and he has a court date on Sept 19 in Stamford Superior court.
