On Saturday around 2:30pm, Port Chester Police responded to an incident on North Regent Street, roughly a mile from Greenwich, on reports of an individual barricaded within a home and suffering from emotional distress.
According to a release Saturday night from Port Chester Police, the department coordinated their response with Westchester County Emergency Services to ensure the safety of everyone inside and outside the home. After several hours, the matter resolved with one person transported for treatment and observation after surrendering to police. No injuries were sustained by any party.
“Firstly, I would like to commend an recognize the professionalism and response demonstrated by each member of the Port Chester Police Department during today’s incident,” said Port Chester Police Chief Christopher Rosabella in the release.
Mayor Luis Marino said, “Thank you to the men and women of the Port Chester Police Department for their continued service and dedication to our village and for keeping all of us safe each day. I am very proud that the incident resolved without injury to any party.”
Village Manager Stuart Rabin said, “Our Port Chester Police Department brought a safe resolution to this afternoon’s incident with professionalism and a commitment to safety and training. We are very proud of the men and women of the department, and recognize that successful local policing calls upon officers to learn and deploy new types of skills and talents to resolve matters safely and today is an example of how those skills are appropriately implemented.”
